This was the first 1970 Datsun 240Z to arrive at Abeloff Datsun in
Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 1970. A dealership employee purchased
the car new and enjoyed it for 5 years and 23,000 miles. He added a
bolt in roll bar, driver's harness, tow hooks and "Sprint" graphic
and participated in several local road rally events. There are road
rally stickers from 1973 on the roll bar. In 1975 the car was
offered for sale again at the same dealership. The second owner
returned from serving in the military overseas in 1975 and
purchased the car from Abeloff on August 16, 1975, adding the
aftermarket wheels shortly after purchase. The 1975 sales invoice
and odometer statement come with the car. The second owner added
approximately 13,000 miles, driving it sparingly each season for 45
years, as the stack of regular service receipts show. The car has
had an oil change and necessary service every year since 1975 and
the car has never sat idle for more than the winter months. The
paint is all original except on the hood and part of the right
front fender. The interior is all original. The original rims and
hubcaps come with the car.
It is exceedingly rare to find a low mile, long term ownership,
unrestored 240Z in this condition - not to mention a great color.
We decided to leave the bolt in roll bar, tow hooks, driver's
harness and "Sprint" graphic as we believe they are an interesting
and important part of this car's history, though they could easily
be removed. The roll bar is bolted down in 4 places and is not
attached to the roof. This highly original piece of Datsun history
would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
