In my opinion, the C2 Vette is the very best for a number of
reasons which include, styling, power and performance but probably
the most stand out is the iconic Split Window that was a one year
only car for the kick off of the second generation of Corvette by
GM. The C2 was built from 1963-1967 which was a pretty short run of
cars compared to the rest. During this time frame the structure of
the car received as much needed attention as the aerodynamics of
the exterior. And even though the cars wheelbase was tighter the
passenger room was as much or a little better than its predecessor.
Bill Mitchell was actually inspired by the 57SC Bugatti Atlatique
coupe for the split window design. This particular Split Window
appears to be numbers matching both engine and transmission as well
as rear end. And although I don't claim to know everything about 63
Vettes, there are also some things that are not correct like the
radiator, glove box inner lining, front suspension and rear spring
that appears to have been changed out when the car was restored
twenty years ago. I am sure there are several things that are not
"Correct" to many Corvette purists. In addition the car was painted
twenty years ago and is not a 100 point concourse paint job.
However, at the end of the day, this is still a very rare 1 of
10,000 Split window coupes made for one year only in 1963. In
addition, it is a 300 Horse 4-speed manual that is in very good
running, driving and stopping condition. This is a low option unit
that was originally silver. The underside of this car is very
presentable with no visible signs of major collision. The car comes
with a car cover, some spare parts and the file that is shown in
the pics showing mostly parts purchased during restoration as well
as engine and transmission rebuild info.
