-Rosso Alfa over Black leather interior with red piping, Black
carpet and Black convertible top. 1,975 cc inline four cylinder
dual overhead camshaft engine with dual Solex carburetors, 5-speed
synchromesh manual gearbox, 113 hp at 5300rpm with a top speed of
110mph. In total there were 3443 Spiders produced between 1958 and
1961.
The US version of the 2000 Spider looked different from the
European market cars, The bonnet scoops were mounted apart from
each other and separated by a chrome strip. They also received only
one chrome strip along the lower flanks where the European versions
had two. The 2000 Spider was Alfa Romeos flag ship car and was also
the very first design by now famed automotive designer Giorgetto
Giugiaro. A true open top GT car capable of 100+ mph speeds, the
2000 offered a more refined and luxurious experience over the
Giulietta Spider.
This 2000 Touring Spider was owned personally for many years by
automotive personality Mr. Donald Obsorne. It was subsequently sold
in 2010 into its most recent ownership, a well-known East Coast
collector. While in this collection, this Alfa and been serviced
and sympathetically restored, when and where needed at all
times.
Today, this 2000 Touring Spider still remains in excellent overall
condition with a slight and honest patina. On a recent road test,
it has been found to drive as one would expect of an Alfa of this
vintage and in keeping with open air motoring in La Dolce Vita.
