1941 WILLY'S COUPE

Fiberglass Body by Al Bird Street Rod Bodies, molds were made from an original steel car.  Complete custom built chassis.  Braking system consists of Bicknell billet aluminum four piston calipers on Wilwood 12’ x 1’ rotors and billet aluminum master, all brake lines are custom fit S/S with Russell fittings, Wilwood proportioning value.  Emergency brake system on the drive shaft.  All lines in the car are braided with Russell fittings including trany and gas lines etc.  Hubs are Wilwood wide 5’s aluminum.  Rear rims are 14” wide 5’s, rear tires are Hoosier Dot Street Radial’s 29” x 18.5” R15 LT Radial, front rims are 7” wide 5’s, front tires are 24” x 7.5” R15 LT  Radial Hoosier Dot Street Radial.  Cooling is a Griffen 3 core aluminum rad with a 2 speed Derale electric fan, with Derale adjustable fan controller with manual over ride.  The car runs cool at all temperatures.  Steering is an Appleton adjustable power steering rack.  Rear end is a Frankland quick change running 3.76 helical cut gears, it has a Gleeson locker and 31 spline axles, (very quiet gears).  Suspension on front is upper A’s with a lower strut and  adjustable QA1 coil overs.  Rear is a Four link with Adjustable QA1 coil overs.  Every suspension party is easily adjustable to suit.  It has wheelie  bars on it but they are bolted on with billet aluminum brackets for easy removal if needed.

The upholstery is custom made faux leather with cloth inserts in seats and top stitching in various areas, black and blue carpet with black top rugs, B&M star shifter and custom pedals, Flaming River tilt column (polished aluminum) with a Lecarra custom wheel and adaptor, Sun tach with shift light complete auto meter guages.  Guage panel and switch panel are custom fabricated, specialty power windows, street works electric doors with poppers, specialty power windows two speed windshield  wipers, vintage air heater with defrost.  Stereo system Panasonic deck with Sony AMP and four speakers, Red Optima battery in S/S case with painless 18 circuit fuse panel with appropriate disconnect switches, custom made sun visors, has Edelbrock electric fuel pump and a cannister type gas filter and external jacking posts.

Remote drivers door opening switch in trunk.  One of two ever made custom trunk plaque and support made of aluminum.  Trunk is completely custom upholstered in Ultra Soft faux leather, black carpet S/S custom made cell, interior lights.  

Paint used was PPG base/clear which was cut and buffed,  seven colours were used to create the real fire flames (the person who did the flames did several graphics on ZZ Tops guitar’s).  The car has suicide doors.  Grill, head lights and tail lights are reproduction pieces.  The hood is not finished as I chose not to run one.  

The Big Al motor is a small block Chevy 30 over (355 cu. in.) with a blower shop 671 blower, two 750-cfm polished carbs, aluminum intake, Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads, steel crank, I beam rods, Probe flat tops.  Motor is 8 to 1 comp. and under driven, the distributor is a Mallory Dynalite with Taylor Performance plug wires, MSD blaster coil with MSD box,  it is not a radical motor and you can drive the car all day long.  It made 526 HP at the fly wheel and I have all motor spec’s.  Running a small Corvette starter that works great.  Ceramic coated Heddman headers into a ceramic coated exhaust back to the tail pipes.  There is a Turbo 350 Trany with mild shift kit and 2600 RPM stall convertor.  Safety Hoops around drive shaft.  

A couple of notes:  The car is driven every good weather chance we get in the Summer and Fall (hibernates in the Winter).  It has won multiple awards that are listed and photo’s , all awards to go to buyer of the car.  A complete car show display goes to the buyer which is 20’ x  20’ high quality black carpet with sewn edges, 12’ x 20’ black roadway carpet, 8 custom made stanchions with barrier ropes, a custom upholstered display box with aluminum checker plate top, two directors chairs, show car mounted description sign, custom made aluminum checker plate stands etc.

My car was on the front cover and a  feature story including many pictures within the  “Canadian Hotrod Magazine” August/September 2018.

Car is fully titled.
